College Farewell- First Time In A Saree With DIY Accessories

The final months of the final year of college promise to be a dramatic affair with emotions running high. Not only do we freak out about our internships, the final exams, the perfect resume or the first interview, but also worry about what are we going to wear at the farewell party. Well, the latter does sound like a trivial thing in front of the rest, but it is indeed something that we fret and fume about for a while.

Hello everyone…….!! I am so into saree these days. I mean look at them, they can make a girl go from 0 to hot (even me)

We had our farewell a while back. It was a fun day/evening and quite eventful.

I was skeptical about wearing a saree. I am 5’2″ and I can pass for a school going girl some days……… No I am not complimenting myself πŸ˜› And I was told that I would look weird in a saree. A girl’s gotta prove herself you know πŸ˜€ Well anyhow, I bought this saree specially for farewell and as you know me I had to do some DIY for it πŸ˜› so I made fabric wrapped kadas (bangles) and statement earrings……… πŸ™‚ πŸ˜€ It was hard to move in saree as I wore heels but I got the hang of it bit by bit. I couldn’t even change my footwear as the saree was wrapped according to my height with heels. Ugh! My feet hurt by the time I was finished but so worth it!! I clearly need a lot of practice for five inch heels…..!! πŸ˜› πŸ˜‰

The blouse I wore was way beyond those hackneyed crop top styled one’s, was a bit long, long enough to cover that bit of extra fat my “tummy” has for that matter! Or should I say “The Stored Energy” πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

This is the first time I’ve put this amount of effort to get together a look. Its the college farewell, so definitely worth it. Got my hands waxed, facial, hair spa and the most painful part : getting eyebrows done!! (I swear I won’t do it again in this life)

Our farewell was hosted by Rama Garg, who did her part exuberantly…….. We had loads of fun and many heartrending moments as well…… Awestruck, I almost cried……….. There was this event whenall the secret messages were being disclosed and the memories shared, as if we had gone back in time and reliving those memories all over again. Then we had the ramp walk session and I am still struggling to find it’s video πŸ˜And then we had the award of Mr. and Miss Farewell………. If there are any juniors reading this post hello people the secrets are exposed here…… πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

And now it’s time for some DIY’s:

The Fabric Kadas or Bangles:

The fabric wrapped bangles are trending these days….. So I thought why not make one myself………….. You just need some fabric of your liking (here I am using the left over fabric from my blouse πŸ™‚ )

Supplies

  • Fabric
  • Old kada or bangle
  • Fabric glue or super glue
  • Needle and thread
  • Satin ribbon
  • Scissors

Method

Measure the width of the bangles you want to wrap with the fabric…… Double the width so it may cover the inner part too……. Now cut a long strip of the fabric………..

Apply super glue on the bangle and stick the fabric as shown in the pictures………..

After leaving one inch extra, cut off the fabric……..

Apply super glue and fold that one inch fabric on it self so that the threads wont come out………. Then glue that to the base……

It’s time for the difficult part……… sewing………. take the needle and thread and sew the fabric around the bangle carefully…………….

So for all of you out there who are really bad at sewing like me the next step came to our rescue….. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜›

Take the satin ribbon, put some super glue on it, stick it to the inner side of the bangle and hide all your mess……… πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

The idea to make these statement earrings came to my mind when I was struggling to decide which one should I wear 😦

When I asked for help……………. My mother voted for the long tassel one and my sister voted for the circular one……….. Result: I was still confused 😦

So I decided to wear both……… πŸ˜›

Want to know how…………….. Take a look……………..

Supplies

  • Circular earrings
  • Long tassel earrings
  • Jump rings
